FORT MYERS BEACH ART ASSOCIATION Announces ART on the Beach
Auction during Beach Talk Radio’s Show March 23 from 11-noon at License to Chill at Margaritaville
and Plein Air Painters painting along San Carlos with a Bayside Memorial Park Sale 11:30-1:30
FORT MYERS BEACH, FL – March 13, 2024
Art on the Beach: Mark your calendar for our March 23 upcoming auction and plein air event to kick off our
fundraising to replace our building that was destroyed by Ian. We thank Beach Talk Radio and Margaritaville
for sponsoring the event. The Art Auction will be during Beach Talk Radio’s Saturday morning podcast on the
upper level of Margaritaville in the License to Chill Bar area from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Five Featured Artists have donated framed and ready to hang paintings to be auctioned off by Beach Talk
Radio hosts Ed and Kim Ryan during their Saturday 11 a.m.- noon podcast. Each of the 5 featured artists will
be interviewed during the podcast, talking about their art, and relating their many positive experiences as a
member of FMBAA. Watch the podcast to learn about each artist and the paintings you can bid on. Auction
will be live online and in person. Featured local artists are Neil Walling, Kathy Taylor, Cheryl Fausel, JoAnn
LaPadula, and Dana Enders.
Dana Enders is a professional plein air pastel painter. She is an award-winning artist who actively participates
in shows and plein air competitions up and down the east coast. Dana is an active member of the Fort Myers
Beach Art Association and is the coordinator of the FMBAA’s plein air group that paints weekly in and around
the Fort Myers area.
JoAnn LaPadula is an award-winning artist who resides in Fort Myers, Florida. Retirement gave her the
opportunity to return to her interest in fine arts and she began painting in watercolor. Her signature style
features a blowing/spraying technique with negative painting.
Cheryl Fausel is a prize winning, international artist who has resided in Germany, Switzerland and now Florida.
She has Signature status in AWS, NWS, SW, FWS, and TaWS. In 2022, 2023, and 2024 she has been invited
to exhibit in the largest International Exhibition in the world taking place in Bologna, Italy, sponsored by
Fabriano. She has been teaching watercolor to adults for over 40 years. She presently teaches weekly classes
with the Fort Myers Beach Art Association and in her studio.
Kathleen Taylor is a winter resident of Fort Myers and of Cape Cod in the summer months. She has been
painting for more than forty years. Her work features scenes of Fort Myers Beach and the surrounding
areas. Kathy says “the FMBAA has enabled me to advance my painting skills and make many wonderful artist
friends”.
Neil Walling was born and raised in Southeast Michigan. He graduated from Art Center College of design in
1966 and had a career designing cars for Chrysler Corporation. Since retirement he has developed a second
career as an artist working primarily “en plein air”. Neil was a member of FMBAA for fifteen years and credits
the organization for playing a significant role in his artistic development.

Plein Air Event:
Plein Air Artists will be setting up Saturday morning on March 23 about 8 a.m. along Old San Carlos Boulevard
and Times Square area for a Plein Air Paint Out Event. A group of Plein Air Artists will also be painting at
various locations in the downtown area of Fort Myers Beach. Artists will have an “off the easel” sale from 11:30
to1:30 at Bayside Veterans Memorial Park. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to FMBAA’s Phoenix
Rebuilding Fund.
The FMBAA Spring Judged Online Show- “Just Do It” opened on March 5th online. Artwork in this exhibit is
